Panamanian Fighter          mp3
lyrics by Brock, music by Alice and Katherine

I am a Panamanian fighter
Against the imperial power
The canal queue grows longer
Our labor just gets cheaper
Thank God my girl is a prostitute
Or else we would be destitute
All the country's banks in American zone
While my kid is skin, bone.

Where's the money?
I want my GDP
At least the bit that belongs to me

To the Republic for which they stand
The Banana Puppets will shake the hand
Of any law maker breaker business man
Sent to strike a deal
On our sand

Well you made us succeed
It was part of your plan
But we're taking it back
We're making a stand
Panama is a sovereign land
Unless a nation state
Is your clan's brand

Go home
Leave us alone
Go home
Leave us alone

Torrijos got us back the canal
Got the School of Americas shut down
But that very army training ground
Trained the troops that sent his plane to drown

Then came Noriega, former US clown
But he wouldn't give back the waterway
So there was no way he could stay
Smear campaign made it politically sound
And Bush sent bombs raining over town…

Oligarchic regime!

I am a Panamanian fighter
Against the imperial power
The canal queue grows longer
Our labor just gets cheaper
I am a sabotageur bullet dodger
Teacher preacher
Farmer striker tribal leader
I am a Panamanian fighter!

This song came to me as I was reading Confessions of an Economic Hitman on a porch overlooking the Gulf of Mexico. I wanted to write a fun beach song about American Imperialism.
